Growing Up So Fast

I always hear the cliche comment when people talk about their children - "oh they are just growing up so fast." I never really understood it completely until now. In the last 4 months or so it just seems that Harrison especially has just taken off in so many directions. Every day he says or does something new - sometimes it even makes me sad because I know he's learning it at daycare rather than from me. For the most part its all good things - except for the influence of his darling friend Memphis who's father clearly is a hunter. Shortly after meeting Memphis we had the good fortune of listening to our sweet 2 year old running around the house saying "POW POW." I knew gun-play would be an inevitable part of raising a boy, but at 2 years old? I digress...
I first really started noticing these changes the day I came home with Avery. I SWEAR Harrison's feet looked like they had grown 2 sizes in a week! I really couldnt get over it. Last night he turns to me proudly and says "Mama I'm TWO...Mama I'm TWO!" I had to pinch myself to realize what he had just said. Next came watching him count his greenbeans on his plate - he counted to 10! Yes, he made a couple of mistakes, but who cares if nine comes before 5? :) Anyone who knows me well knows that I really struggled during H's early days - ok months, but wow he is just something else and I'm just so crazy over my little boy :)
And I really cant believe Avery is almost 6 months old...where did the time go? She's growing so much differently than H did - she's a very verbal child, but less physical. She knows how to roll over, but doesnt really care to most of the time. But wow...if you get her on a roll "talking" she really just goes and goes and goes. And she notices EVERYTHING! She loves her big brother to pieces and it just melts my heart watching them have their own little conversations. The other day I was getting ready to wake her up for her morning and Harrison wanted to help. He climbed up on his stool next to her crib to watch what I was doing. As Avery opened her eyes and saw H peering down at her she got the biggest smile on her face and her eyes just sparkled! She let out the sweetest giggle - it really was a sweet moment. We've been so lucky that no sibling jealousy has started yet. Maybe we'll be free of that - I can only hope.
Thanks for reading along this far to my ramblings! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
